Teresa is a Canadian
coloured pencil artist and instructor living in Ottawa,
Ontario. Her life has been shaped and defined by the
experiences gained pursuing what she is most passionate
about. A love for the rural landscape, nature and animals was a result of her childhood years spent on her parents' dairy farm in eastern Ontario. Teresa's passion for music led her to a music major and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph in 1984. Also passionate about business, Teresa went on to further her education, this time studying business administration at Algonquin College in Ottawa. Throughout these years, Teresa pursued her passion for visual art by painting in various media. She has worked in oil, acrylic, graphite, pen and ink and watercolour. Upon discovering the coloured pencil medium, Teresa realized she had found the means to best express her creative ideas. |
| Teresa works full time as an artist and instructor. She runs her business, Teresa Mallen Studio, from her beautiful, spacious studio in rural Ottawa. Teresa shares her enthusiasm and extensive knowledge of the coloured pencil medium by offering courses and workshops in her studio as well classes with schools, art organizations, and the city of Ottawa. Eager to share her expertise with a wider group of interested students and artists, Teresa has developed a line of practice kits, publishes newsletters and writes an art journal blog. She is currently reaching out to artists around the world by translating her course curriculum to an on-line learning format. A member of the Coloured Pencil Society of America, Teresa's work has been exhibited and sold internationally. | |
